Obituary

Shawna Marie Beaumont went peacefully to the other side camp on August 29, 2022, surrounded by her family. She entered this world on November 28, 1970, in Billings, MT to Loretta Bell and Phillip Beaumont, Jr. Shawna was a member and child of the Greasy Mouth Clan. Shawna is a direct descendant of Little Chief of the Nakoda and Chief Bell Rock. As a child Shawna was given the Apsaalooke name “Ak baa waa chim mih che”, One Who Teaches, and the Nakoda name “Wah oons peh We cha ke yah”, Teacher.

She attended Head Start in Fort Belknap; high school in Chemawa and graduated from Plenty Coups in 1989. Shawna attended college at MSU Billings, Little Big Horn College, and Aaniiih Nakoda College. She received Associates degrees in Business and Computer Science.

Shawna was our rock, our protector, and our provider. She had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Her strength and resilience were only exceeded by her love for family and friends. She lived by the motto “where there is a will, there is a way”, and came through for us if she was ever called on. She loved and doted on her girls, making sure they were provided for. Wherever she went, one or all of them was with her. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she watched over them fiercely. She loved all her brothers and sisters, but she had a special bond with her “Brother Love” JC, often telling others she raised him. The two of them shared many adventures over the years, always being there for one another through thick and thin. She was the real deal, what you saw was what you got. She was the best daughter, niece, sister, mother, and grandmother.
