Marilyn Irene Myhre was born in Scobey, Montana on February 10, 1943, to Douglas Gilchrist and Virginia Theivin. She was baptized in Peerless, Montana on May 26, 1946, where she spent her childhood. Marilyn died in Billings, Montana at 10:06 PM September 12, 2022.


Marilyn moved around in her early 20's before settling in Scobey, Montana, establishing her home there in 1968–69. After raising four sons as a single parent, she moved from her home in Scobey, Montana to Billings, Montana in 1991, some six hours and many miles away from all that she knew. She attended college at Montana State University–College of Vo-Tech where she earned a degree in Medical Secretary Applied Science in 1994. Marilyn went to work at St Vincent Hospital in the Medical records department until her retirement. She lived alone with her beloved cat, Joy.


She is survived by her four sons: Keith Myhre (Melody), Kevin Myhre (Suzanne), Kent Myhre, Kyle Myhre (Sheila); 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five of her eight siblings: Cheryl, Billie Jean, Tim, Mark, and Mary Jane.


Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on September 23, 2022, at St Bernard Catholic Church located at 226 Wicks Lane, Billings, Montana. A luncheon will follow the service.

I grew up near Peerless not knowing Marilyn cause she was a few years older than me. But in a small town, we get to know everyone! As the years went on we were in the same Catholic Church Parish and talked several times. I admired her for moving to Billings and she was so proud of her sons and grandchildren. I ran into her frequently and she was always friendly and loved to talk about Peerless. I am sorry to hear of her passing but know she wasn't feeling good in the past year. I won't be here for her funeral but would like to send condolences to her family and prayers for her to rest in peace and love the Lord Jesus! Bitsy Merchant
