Obituary

Donald W. Lewis, age 79, passed away on September 19, 2022, surrounded by family. Don was born in Ellendale, ND on August 19, 1943, to Alden Lewis and Dorothy (Sand) Lewis.


Upon graduation in 1962, Don moved to Billings, MT to work at Anthony's Department Store. During his employment there, he met Ellen Papka, and they married on June 13, 1964. On September 19, 1965, they welcomed their first daughter, Kelly, followed by son Steve, and youngest daughter Karen.


Don worked various jobs to provide for his growing family. He loved to camp and travel. Don worked 20 years as a custodian at St. Bernard Catholic Church until his retirement. He was always willing to help his children and anyone else who asked for his help.


Don was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen; children: Kelly (James) Campbell, Steve (Dana) Lewis, and Karen (Eric) Isaacson; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Mary Ann Lewis, Alden Lewis, Dottie Ross, and Jay (Kari) Lewis.


The family would like to thank all the caregivers on the Sixth Tower for keeping Don comfortable in his final days, and to everyone who stopped by to keep him company.


Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 10:00 am.

I have lots of great memories of my dad all the camping trips the trips to Minnesota my dad was my idol my hero and my best friend I will miss you so much love you

I have great memories of staying with Aunt Ellen and Uncle Don when my baby sisters were being born. Uncle Don would take me with him on his bread delivery truck. We would take hamburger buns to McDonalds and bread and donuts to other businesses. Somehow there would always be a bag of powdered sugar donuts that wasn't okay to deliver, and I would get to eat as many as I wanted. He was always very kind and generous to me.

My dad my Hero, you have always been there for me when I had problems or questions about something, you knew what to say or do to help me with my problems. When ever I needed you to pick up one of our kids from school you were there, even if it was clear across town. You always taught me things I needed to know about life. I will Always Love you til the end & beyond. I will Miss you terribly, but if I look up in the sky I will know you are up there watching over us, Love you Dad!!

Don served on the Board of Directors of Imperial Park Condo Assoc for more years than have been recorded. Our HOA consists of 124 homes on Windsor Circle North and South. I came on the Board in 2014 and soon learned that Don was the voice of reason. He always had a quiet way of doing business. For that, he was admired by all. He has been greatly missed since he stepped down in 2018. We extend our sincere sympathy to Don's family. If there is anything we can do, please let us know.
