Thomas Ray Harmon, 79, passed away on October 10, 2022. He was born in Great Falls, Montana, the youngest of four sons born to Oscar and Frances Harmon, on December 5, 1942. As the story goes, the doctor who delivered Tom was paid with a sack of potatoes. Born a true salesman with an entrepreneurial spirit, at the age of eight, he was going door to door in his neighborhood selling Spudnut Donuts, a sweet treat made with potatoes. And from then on, you'd find Tom eating potatoes at almost every meal.


Tom grew up in Great Falls and Billings, graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1961. While attending a college graduation party in Great Falls, he met his one true love, Lucille “Lucy” McGillis, whom he married in Hamilton, Montana in 1971. Together they grew their family to include two sons, Todd and Tommy, and a daughter, Carrie.


Tom owned his own business in Great Falls, and later became a salesman for Proctor and Gamble. Always community minded and a devout Catholic, Tom was active in PAT Club, Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul, and Public Land Water Access Association. You'd most likely find Tom outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting, camping and boating. A truly giving person, he enjoyed sharing baked goods and his famous spaghetti sauce with family, friends, and acquaintances.


Preceding Tom in death are his parents; brothers John and Lonnie Harmon; brother-in-law Mike McGillis; and granddaughter Frances Anderson. He is survived by his wife Lucy; brother David (Gloria) Harmon; brother-in-law Joe (Gail) McGillis; sisters-in-law Marilyn Harmon and Janet Harmon; sons Todd (Melanie) and Tommy; daughter Carrie (Jeff) Anderson; grandchildren Kirra and Cole; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tom's name may be sent to Family Services, St. Vincent de Paul, Sunbeam Associates, or the charity of your choice.

LUCY, It is with heavy heart hearing of Toms passing. We've have done so much together. We spoke of you folks bringing the motor home and parking in our drive way and have a nice visit. Our memories will be fond. Tom was a wonderful friend to have these past 45 years. Tom will be missed. Our prayers go out to you, Todd, Tommy and Carrie. Go Bless. Jim & Ginnie Hennen

For as long as I can remember there has been “that Tommy” Gathered around his mom’s table with Aunt Helen, Aunt Essie, and my mom Liz , Aunt Frank would be sharing something about Tommy’s latest shenanigans and then would come the laugh and say , oh That Tommy. I will miss that Tommy. He was not only my cousin, but my friend. He had a heart of gold and a wicked sense of humor. He was big on family. He was big on life. I love him and send my heart felt condolences to Lucy and his 3 great kids.

Sorry to hear of Brother Knight Tom's passing. As noted, he was a salesman for sure. I was invited to join his hunting group for a weekend in a cabin in the mountains, West of Ennis one year. Tom, one of his sons, and a couple of others were Elk hunting. I was the camp cook. For dinner one evening, I had made a cake with a Blackberry Brandy frosting, that I had to set outside in a snowbank to cool the frosting. It must have turned out to their liking. There were only a few crumbs of the entire cake left, after dinner. :) Rest in peace Tom. H. Harold Kelso

Tom has been a friend of myself and my wife since high school, we all graduated in 1961. We always had engaging conversations when we happened to run into each other and especially high school reunions. He was a good person and friend. Dennis Tulp and Bonnie (Wilcox) Tulp
