Dorinda Broken Rope

Dorinda Joe Broken Rope, Biawatchaache “Great Woman”, Sioux Name “Pretty Woman” born July 24, 1972, in Billings MT at St. Vincents Hospital. Went to the Other Side Camp on December 7, 2022, at 50. Born to Joseph Fredell Broken Rope Sr. and Constance Decrane. Her maternal surviving aunts and uncles include Max and Dorothy Spotted Bear, Anna Decrane, and Frank Cloud. Her paternal aunts and uncles Vine, Frank, Alvin, Raymond, John, Edna, Mercy, Joseph Sr. Broken Rope, her brother Joseph Jr. Broken Rope, her nephew Randall James Jr. preceded her in death. Her maternal aunts and uncles Vicky Stewart, Zelda Decrane, Thomas (Alma) Decrane, and Sarah Sanchez also preceded her in death. Survivors include her Mother Constance, Daughter Jamie Broken Rope, Her Sisters Roberta Broken Rope, and Malissa (Greg) Parker, and Brothers Thomas (Dawn) Broken Rope, Alex (Beldean) Plainfeather, Emmanuel Archambault, and Gregory (Shaina) Archambault and her special nieces and nephews Nakiah Black Hawk, Constance, Godfrey, TawnieRae, Angel, Baby Joe III, Thomas, Laila, Roberta, Melvin, Catalina, Manuel Broken Rope, and Miguel Sielinsky, and her favorite granddaughter Josephine Black Hawk. Her grandparents Josephine Birdinground and Thomas Decrane Sr., Godfrey and Lucy Broken Rope also preceded her in death.

Dorinda made the best tamales and frybread. She also loved baking. She especially liked baking random cookie recipes. Dorinda collected stuffed animals and often had several stuffed animals in her bedroom especially her favorite stuffed animal “Buffy the Buffalo.” She was a bookworm. She always loved to read books and enjoyed coloring books, she often read books on her cell phone. She loved cats and dogs, especially her dog Peanut Butter. While growing up she always had two or more cats and at least one dog. She was the best babysitter and babysat numerous nieces and nephews throughout her life. Especially Daniel (Gabe) Roas, TawniRae, Constance, Baby Thomas, and Baby Roberta Broken Rope. While living in Texas for 8 years, she often babysat her cousins Violet (James) Real Bird, Louisa Sanchez, Cristobal Jr. Sanchez.
