Gerald Obelenus

Gerald Joseph Obelenus was born on May 17th of 1958, to Lynna and George Obelenus. He passed away at his home in Billings of a cardiac arrest on December 28, 2022. He was born in Pennsylvania and grew up there, and in Ohio when his family moved when he was a youngster. From a young age he showed an incredible ability to understand how things worked and was constantly taking things apart and tinkering with them, leading to his love of working on vehicles.

He went to high school in Madison, Ohio where he met the love of his life, Diana. They married in 1982 and had two sons, Joshua and Nicholas. In 1992 they moved to Billings, Montana to be closer to Diana's family where he eventually moved into his career as a mechanic working for Total Rental.

His wife Diana passed away in 2011 from health complication related to MS. He was able to carry on for his two sons who were starting their own families, having children of their own, making his dream come true of becoming a grandpa.

He was always going out of his way to help others in need but rarely would ask for help in return. He loved fixing broken things, whether it be a vehicle, tool, or anything that had moving parts. He was a devout religious man who would go to church at First Evangelical Free Church every single Sunday, if at all possible.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Diana, father George, and sister Lisa. He is survived by his sons Joshua and Nicholas, three grandchildren, mother Lynna, brother Mike, sisters Chris, Cheryl, Laurie, and Maria, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings on Friday January 6, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at Dahl. Interment will be at Mountview Cemetery following the reception.
