Obituary

Richard Lee (Dick) Hardt passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022. He was 86.

Dick was born on June 19, 1936, to Pete and Lydia (Bangert) Hardt. He attended Shiloh School and Billings Senior High.

Dick married Betty Lou Nielsen on September 13, 1959, and they had four children: Lorri, Shelly, Doug, and Brad. He farmed and raised cattle west of Billings most of his life, working first with his dad and brother Ray as Pete Hardt & Sons, and then with Ray as Hardt Bros, then Hardt Farms with their boys. He was a hard worker but liked to have fun, too. He especially liked going to cattle sales and the many boards and committees that he served on. His wife Betty passed away in July 2009.

Dick married Suzanne Sandridge on October 27, 2012. They enjoyed their winters in Arizona. Dick especially liked playing poker and bocce ball, the pool, and visiting with friends. He would visit with anyone, and it seemed like he knew everyone. He treasured his friends and family in Montana and Arizona.

Dick is survived by his wife, Suzanne, her son Jeff Sandridge, and his son Wolfgang; also two daughters, Lorri Brown and Shelly Mangen (Chris); his son Brad Hardt (Tammy); nine grandchildren: Miranda Needham (Matt), Wendy Brown (Jeremy Holstad), Adrienne Mueller (Ryan), Melea Sexton (Joe), Celes Mangen, Joele Haemmerle (Jake), Ryley Hardt, Lee Hardt (Lindsey Hall), and Kady Hardt; and eight great-grandchildren: Finna and Paiden Needham, Dominique Mayer, Evani and Tyson Castro, Emeline, Werner, and Conall Sexton; and several nieces and nephews.

In honor of Dick, memorials may be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church or the charity of one's choice.

Dan and I are sending our condolences to the family of Dick Hardt. We got to know Dick when we were neighbors on Kamton Court in Billings. He was a good, hard working man and always willing to help neighbors any way he could. He had a great sense of humor too and always made us laugh. He was always fun to visit with. Dan and Evelyn Hall

Dick was a fun, friendly, loving cousin. I remember him and my brother Dean seeing who could yell "hochzeit"(wedding) in German the loudest at the receptions. I was surprised when he came to see me in Somers while visiting up here. May his soul rest in peace and all your good memories sustain you at this time. God Bless. Alice Bangert Blasdel

Brad and Tammy, Vickie and I were saddened to hear about the loss of your dad. His video brought tears to both of our eyes. So many of those pictures brought back the nice memories of your dad and you and I growing up together out on the farms. My dad and I were always thankful to your dad if and when we ever needed a hand with something. Memories of your dad at the stockyards, working on the farm and scolding us when we were 16 and knew everything. He was loved by many, including me and my family. You and your family take care of yourselves. Mike Bangert
