Trudy Line

Trudy Ann Line was born on February 20, 1959, to Verl and Edna Line in Denver, Colorado. Trudy was the baby of the family. She was well-traveled even as a child and enjoyed her many adventures. The family trip to Disneyland made such an impression on her that she always loved Disney. Her love of Barbie was born when she got her first doll as a child.

She was beautiful, warm & loving. She loved music and learned to play the piano at an early age. She was a good student and loved reading. Trudy graduated from Arvada West High School in 1977. Her lifelong love of purple may have started in high school as the school colors were Purple & White.

She met her would-be husband while working as a data entry clerk and was married on May 7, 1983. The newlyweds moved soon after to Helena, MT and she took the role of being a mother & homemaker while devoting much of her time & energy as a caregiver to her sister's children. A few years later, Trudy and her husband moved to Billings, Montana, and again took in her sister's children and her husband's daughter. Trudy sorely wanted to have a child of her own and had begun the adoption process while in Helena. Trudy's desire to adopt came to fruition in 1991 when a son, Steven Wayne Hancock was adopted from Romania.

Trudy graduated from Eastern MT College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1993. Trudy was a partner in her husband's computer repair business. Trudy was the family historian, and she devoted a large portion of her life to documenting the family history.

She hosted many beautiful Christmas dinners in her home and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Some of her best dishes were Pedro Casserole and Apple Cake. She loved the 4th of July and always enjoyed being with family in the park having a picnic or having a BBQ with the neighbors. She loved music and had an extensive collection. She had a wry sense of humor & she truly appreciated a good laugh over a glass of wine with friends.

Trudy passed away January 15, 2023, at Riverstone Hospice in Billings, MT surrounded by her family after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma and Congestive Heart Failure. She was preceded in death by her father Verl Line, her mother Edna Line, her brothers Daniel (Dan) and Timothy (Tim) Line, and her sister Jennifer (Jenny) Line.

She leaves to cherish her memory, half-brother Glenn Bellingroehr, a son Steven Hancock, 3 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews & other loving relatives and friends.

God looked around His garden

And found an empty place.

He then looked down upon the earth

And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you

And lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful

He always takes the best.

He saw the road was getting rough

And the hills were hard to climb.

So he closed your weary eyelids

And whispered “Peace be thine”.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

But you didn't go alone.

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home.
