Obituary

On the morning of 18 March 2023, Michelle Dianne Bishop of Park City, Montana, passed away in her home at the age of 60.

Michelle was the granddaughter of Walter and Hellen Lorraine Lamb of Reed Point. She tried her hand at a variety of occupations before she began caring for the developmentally disabled in 1990, work she continued until she passed. Michelle began as a night shift supervisor for what was then REM Montana.

She worked her way up to Developmentally Disabled Program Director and then moved on to Family Financial Liaison for Aware Montana. Michelle was one of the foremost caregivers in her field, providing humane and individual-focused care for people across the state. She licensed group homes, authored policy, and reclaimed tens of thousands of dollars in benefits for those under her care. Regardless of her achievements, she always felt her best work was in the direct care she provided for her people.

In her personal life, Michelle was a world traveler. Her steps graced much of the United States and she traveled extensively in the United Kingdom. England was a special place for her, she found the Kerry Ring beautiful, but Scotland would always hold a part of her heart. When wanderlust wasn't upon her, she perfected her cooking and was something of a handbag connoisseur. However, what she took the most pride in was her family and friends, and often said the greatest achievement of her life was the day she became a grandmother

Michelle is survived by her sons Michael and Noah, her daughters Erin, Amber, and Rachel, her grandchildren Ethan, Hank, Porter, and Paisley, and by the love of her life Alan Matthew Hopstad. Her memorial service will be held at Dahl's Funeral Chapel, Saturday, March 25th, at 4:00 PM.
