Alice McCann

Alice Elinor McCann was born on February 7, 1925, in Greybull, Wyoming to Charles and Helen (Schilling) Tanner. Alice passed away on March 31, 2023 at Sweetwater Retirement Community in Billings.

Alice attended schools in Greybull graduating from Greybull High School in 1943. She moved to Billings and studied at Billings Business College. She worked for Meadow Gold Dairy as an office assistant. Later she was employed by Thomas Kelly Accounting as a clerk. She married Tom McCann on April 6, 1947 in Billings and they were married for 36 years until Tom's death in 1983. Tom and Alice had two children, a son Rick McCann of Billings and daughter Vicki Lazoff of Las Vegas.

Alice loved camping and fishing with Tom and their children in their favorite places on the Boulder, West Fork of the Rosebud, and Stillwater River. Alice became involved as a troop leader in the Girl Scouts organization and served as the camp director for Pine Crest day camp. Alice discovered her interest in oil painting and created paintings that will be cherished by her family for years to come. Her other interests included volunteering for the Billings Studio Theatre and as a member of the quilting group at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school activities and watching them play sports.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom, her sisters Frances Wescom and Gertie Phillips, son-in-law Loren Lazoff and great granddaughter Rayleigh McCann.

She is survived by her son Rick (Sharon) and daughter Vicki. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Chris (Wayne) Byloo, TJ McCann, Shannon McCann, CarriLyn (Matthew) Glossip, Mac McCann, Nick Lazoff and Chance Lazoff. In addition, she was blessed with 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Graveside service and final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

She will be dearly missed!
