We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carolyn Louise Husby of Billings. She died at the age of 86 on April 8th, 2023. Carolyn passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a three- year journey on hospice. Carolyn was born on January 1, 1937, to Bertha Jacob and Garvin Madden in Havre, Montana. She married Gilbert Lewis of New Jersey in 1955 and from this union they had three children: John, Rosalie, and Terrie. Carolyn received her nursing degree while in California and worked in numerous hospitals, nursing homes and facilities throughout her life. She married Earl Husby on May 28th, 1971, and celebrated 50 years in 2021. Together they welcomed a daughter, Lydette.


If you ask her friends and family about Carolyn, you wouldn't be surprised if they mentioned her bright lipstick and perfume when she walked into the room. She loved her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren endlessly. She will be missed greatly.


Carolynn is preceded in death by her daughter Lydette. She is survived by her husband, Earl Husby, her children John, Rosalie (Wade), Terrie (Dean), grandchildren Brittany, Jenna, Dylan, Cassidy, Hanna, Bre, and Erica, and great grandchildren, Harper, Beckett, Amaya and Brice Jr.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date where she will be laid to rest at Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale, Montana.

Dear Grandma, Thank you for showing me there is joy and value in appreciating simple things: Norwegian pancakes, a stick of Doublemint gum, Eggs with Hats, and blooms on a bleeding heart vine. When I think of you, I'll remember how you liked a Nora Roberts trilogy and vinegar with your chili. You enjoyed being around kids and were compassionate toward the disabled and disadvantaged. I'll never care about lipstick, but I admired your pajama collection (and I enjoy a nice nightgown, too.) You'll always have a place in my heart. Love, Britt

Some of my fondest and most dear memories of her is are times spent talking to each other day after day night after night for hours and me being able to talk to her about anything and everything and her not pass judgment on me for my faults. I thought of her like a mother who I could call and talk to about things that only a mother or grandmother can give advice on. I loved her and will truly miss her RIP sweet woman till we meet again.

To the family, Carol was a wonderful lady. From the first day I met her at her granddaughter’s softball game we became fast friends. I so enjoyed sitting and visiting with her about her pets, children and grandchildren. She loved them all! Yes, she loved lipstick and every other Mary Kay product that made her look or smell beautiful-and she had a natural beauty, inside and out, which I can see she successfully passed down to her family. “And now these three remain:Faith , hope and love.
