One of the biggest qualities I’ll always remember about Kyle is the unmistakeable outward efforts he made to be there for Kirsten and Kole when we were kids. It’s something that I didn’t pay much mind to when we were growing up, but looking back now I can see it was a massive labor of love to buy and maintain a house in Scobey so he could have a place to spend time with his kids in their hometown. He would come up anytime he could to be present for Kirsten and Kole. I remember him being here quite often for sports, dances, senior pictures, graduations, or just because he had made the time. When he and Sheila and later Jenna and Holly were here to visit, you always knew there would be a feast cooked up and served with joy and love. Part of the fun was listening to him describe the food and teach us the cooking techniques that came along with it. I remember he brought an enormous triple decker chocolate cake one trip and he said to watch out because each slice was 1,200 calories! 😂 I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant at the time until after I ate it. 😅 There are many fond memories with the Myhres, Gaustads, and Graffs. Those were great old times being one of the daughters of that band of goof balls. Being an introvert, I was always fascinated by Kyle who was as extroverted as one could get! Boy did he keep us entertained! We always belly laughed at old stories told by Kyle. I remember in junior high when Mr. Ross saw Lawren, Kirsten, and me coming he’d cringe and tell us what a nightmare our dads were back in the day, and questioned what did he do to deserve 3 more of the same age of the next generation! Of course we took that as a challenge. 😂 Times change, we all change and grow in different directions, but we will always treasure those great memories we had with Kyle. It’s really difficult to grasp both that he’s gone and the sorrow left behind among his closest family and friends. So hug the ones you love. Tell them what they mean to you often. Be good to each other. Thank God for all we’ve been given. And live today, not in yesterday or for tomorrow. Sheila, Kirsten, Kole, Jenna, and Holly, you’re all strong and beautiful inside and out and you will be there for each other always. It’s ok to be sad, angry, lonely, whatever it is. Let yourselves have the time you need. You’ve suffered an enormous loss, and we’ll all be praying for strength and peace for all of you. Remember the love your husband and dad has for you because that part of him is still here. With love, Summer Eternal rest grant unto Kyle oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
