Obituary
William (Bill) Schriver of Hysham, MT passed away at the age of 78 in Billings on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was one of the most gentle, kind and loving people you could meet and if you had the opportunity to know him, you'd know he was a gentleman in the most literal sense of the word.
Bill was born on January 8, 1947, in Glendive, MT to the late Ervin and Marjorie Schriver and is survived by one older brother, Don Schriver, also of Circle. He went to school in Circle and volunteered for the draft into the U.S. Army in 1964 at 17. Bill's sense of humor was infectious and when he met Dolores Quick, he noted, “When I saw Dolores, I liked her legs!”. They married in Circle on November 24, 1976, and lived in Circle until 1985 when they moved to Hysham and have lived there since.
Upon returning from the army he worked as a power line contractor, eventually owning and operating Bill Schriver Power Line Construction, where he enriched the lives and left great memories with everyone who worked with or for him. When he retired, he earned his Captain's License in Washington, and he and Dolores owned and ran Rock Creek Marina on South Rock Creek at Fort Peck Lake from 1995 through 2004. Later he enjoyed being a member of and the camaraderie of the American Legion in Hysham.
He loved the outdoors, and his favorite pastimes included doing anything with his wife, kids, grandkids and close friends. Some of his family's best memories with him include fishing, boating, hunting, traveling, and sometimes just going for a drive. Anyone who knew him would fondly recall him reminding us that “Life is Good”.
Bill and Dolores raised a very close and loving family who will miss him tremendously, but who are committed to passing along this legacy. His children include Kris Schriver-Brumley and her husband Shawn with their sons, Gage and Chace with his fiancé Jake, Tren Schriver and his daughter Addison, and Chansie Schriver-VanDyke with her husband Luke and their boys, Spence and Cash. They will continue to remember him most while fishing together on Fort Peck Lake, traveling together anywhere, or just family time around the table laughing and playing cards.
A celebration of life will be held in Hysham on May 31, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Schriver Shop at 621 7th Avenue. If there are any questions regarding the service, please contact Dahl Funeral Chapel.
