Glenna Marshall

Glenna H. Marshall was born to Dolly and Ray Maynard on December 22, 1949, in Wayne County, WV. She was the first born with brother Larry following, sister Angi and later brother Stuart completed the family of 6.

They made the move to Montana and landed in Libby where she went to school and graduated from Libby High School in 1968. While in high school, she met her son-to-be husband, Jim Marshall. The two high school sweethearts got married at the tender age of 20 in 1970.

Mom worked at the Venture Inn in Libby as a waitress and this started her career in waiting tables for the rest of her life. She loved taking care of her regulars in all the places she worked.

Glenna gave birth to her first daughter in 1973, Jamie Christine, and they were besties until her second daughter, Hailey Marie, was born in 1983 and this made Glenna have two besties as her daughters. All Mom ever wanted in her life was her girls, and she made sure to remind us of that all these years.

Jim and Glenna moved to Billings in the 1980's and although she missed all her family and friends in Libby, she considered Billings her home. If you were lucky enough, Glenna probably waited on you throughout the years at different establishments in Billings. The Windmill on State Avenue, Hilands Golf Club, George Henry's, Suds Hut, The Rockpile, The Powder Horn and her last job was working in the Cracker Barrell gift shop, where she basically spent all her paychecks buying her family and herself fun things. Glenna made a plethora of long-lasting friendships throughout her life and cherished them all. 

Glenna was blessed with her only grandchild in 2006, Teig, and loved him with every fiber in her body. When Jim passed away in 2008 after 38 years of marriage, she kept herself busy with work, watching Teig play baseball, piddling around her house listening to music on full blast, taking care of all her plants (she seriously had the best green thumb ever!) and just enjoying her home. She loved to hang out with her girls and son-in-laws and play dice, which always seemed to clean us out of our quarters, have a red beer and have her favorite music in the background. She loved life, peace and a good homecooked meal by her daughters.

Proceeded in death is her mom Dolly, who we just lost a short 4 months ago, her dad Ray, her husband of 38 years Jim, and her sister Angi, whom Mom missed terribly throughout the past 10 years.

Survivors include her daughter Jamie Christine Egge, son in law Chad, grandson Teig; daughter Hailey Marie Walsh, son in law Chris, brother-in-law Bob Marshall and three grand dogs, Kota, Piper and Otto, as those furbabies gave her much joy. Her brothers Larry Maynard of Idaho and Stuart Maynard of Wyoming. Several nieces and nephews and a bountiful amount of friends.

At the request of Glenna, she asked for no funeral service. She went as far to write on an envelope at some point during the years, "NO FUNERAL OR I WILL HAUNT YOU BOTH." Needless to say, we will comply with her wish as we figure out our way through life without her physically here with us.

Mom had a brief illness that rocked all our worlds. A special thank you to the crew at Billings Clinic in the ICC Unit. From the Doctor's, PA's, Nurses, LPN's, CNA's, Housekeeping and the staff that would bring her the tomato soup and cheeseburgers that she couldn't get enough of while in the hospital for over 5 weeks. Thank you for caring for our Mom and trying your best to figure out our medical mystery and trying your best to help Hailey and I understand what was going on.

Mom, Mommy, Mamma.... We promise to keep the coffee brewing, the music cranked up and the plants watered and cared for until we meet again. Love, your girls.
