Corey Bushman

July 08, 1982 - August 31, 2025

Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Corey Michael Bushman on Sunday, August 31, 2025. Corey was born July 8th, 1982, and had recently celebrated his 43rd birthday. He was born in Billings, MT, to Eric and Victoria Schaff Bushman. He was the oldest of 4, two brothers, Matthew and Chad, and a sister, Jillian.

He attended Billings Catholic schools with a brief stint at Canyon Creek School. He and his siblings grew up southwest of Billings and enjoyed all country living had to offer.

After graduating from Billings Central in 2001, he attended MSU Bozeman as well as MSU Billings. Corey began working in the family business at a young age. At the time of his death, he was a partner in Billings RV Inc. Corey knew almost everything about RVs. He was a Master Certified RV Technician and was currently acting as Sales Manager.

Corey was one of the most fun-loving people on earth. Whether it was laughing and joking with coworkers or spending time with his friends and family, Corey always had a smile that was larger than life. Corey had a knack for touching people's lives. Everyone he met inevitably became his friend. We don’t know anyone who didn’t enjoy his company. He was quick with a joke, always wore a smile, and had a million stories to tell.

Corey loved catfishing and participated in numerous tournaments across the state. He was very competitive and critical of himself on his results, but was always the first to bring out the positive in the situation. Everyone he competed with loved fishing with Corey.

Corey's willingness to help anyone out with anything they needed was unmatched. Whether you needed to be pulled out of a mudhole, a ride to the airport, or a shoulder to lean on, Corey was there, no questions asked.

Corey's activities outside of work included goose hunting, bowling, and spending time with his lifelong friends, many of whom he had known since childhood. From his hunting trips to Canada, fishing trips in Mexico, to sporting event trips, he was always up for anything and brought tons of laughs and great company.

If you were to ask Corey what his greatest accomplishment was, he would, without hesitation, say his sons, Carter and Max. Corey loved to follow them to all their sporting events and sometimes coached them as well. Corey loved to cook and enjoyed family meals together, and was not afraid to try something new. They enjoyed playing video games together, bowling, and taking trips to the family cabin. Corey taught them how to hunt and fish, and did it often. They were best friends in every way.

Corey was a big, bright, shining light that burned out too soon. The world was a better place with Corey in it. So, goodbye for now, Corey. The angels led you home to your heavenly father, and he was waiting for you.

Survivors include his parents, his sons Max and Carter, his brother Matthew (Tara), his niece Sofia, his sister Jillian (Brandon) Duffey, and nephews Caleb and Aiden. Grandparents, John and Carol Schaff, 29 aunts and uncles, and 38 cousins.

Corey was preceded in death by his brother Chad, his uncle Jim Schaff, and his grandparents Hazel and Don Bushman.

Donations may be made to an account at Western Security Bank for the Bushman Family Testamentary Trust for the benefit of Corey’s children, Carter and Maximilian Bushman.

I was lucky enough to meet Corey a few years ago when he and a few of his buddies were kind enough to show a few Colorado boys their home turf in the Breaks for a mule deer hunt. It didn’t take long before I felt like we were kindred souls! Whether it was the classic ford he showed up in, his casual downing of a sharp tail grouse as we drove around searching for deer, or our conversations about hunting and fishing or family, we had much in common. He had a solid understanding of the area we hunted and put the three of us who harvested on game. The morning of our return trip, Corey stopped by to say goodbye and we all picked the conversation up where it had left off, talking about family, hunting and fishing….one of those conversations that you are sad that it has to end due to other priorities. It was a trip I’ll never forget and one that I had wished to repeat at some point. My deepest condolences to Corey’s family and friends, he was an amazing guy and one that will be missed dearly. Rest in peace friend.

I first met Corey in St. Kitts on a Lance trip and we instantly became friends. We clicked because we were both young guys in the RV industry and had a lot to relate to. Even though I live in Fl and he was in Montana We would still keep in touch and share fishing and our vacation pics. I am so happy to have been friends with him and I am saddened by our loss. I pray for all the family and friends.

I met Corey during a mule deer hunt about 5 yrs ago where he and some friends were kind enough to host some Colorado boys on their home turf in the Breaks. Almost immediately I felt he was a kindred spirit. First sign was him showing up in classic Ford Pickup, 2nd was him promptly downing a grouse as we casually drove around looking for deer, and the similar interests didn't end there as we talked about fishing and family, his boys just a few years younger than mine, but having many of the same interests. After our hunt, Corey stopped by before our return trip and we picked right up where we had left off the past few days, it was one of those conversations that could have gone on forever. I left hoping to join for some ice fishing fun and maybe another hunt or two as well as getting to know Corey and his buddies better. My deepest condolences to his family, Corey was a great guy who we will all miss dearly. Corey, rest in peace and I can only pray that in Heaven we will all enjoy the happy hunting & fishing grounds and you're doing so right now.

Although I didn't know Corey personally, we lived in the same sub-division. He's round the corner where our house is and give me a smile on the way by. Once he paused and told me 'nice truck' even though mine is a Dodge, and I know he liked Ford's. I am really sorry to hear of his passing, and I am sorry for his Boy's and Family. I found out a bit to late to make the service otherwise I would have, but I just knew with that kind face that someday we would be friends. I am truly saddened and sorry, God bless.

My time knowing Corey short. I was lucky enough to meet him through Kyle W. in 2020 as we ventured to the Breaks for a deer hunt. His love the outdoors, his friends, his family, was immediately evident. He treated me as if we'd known each other for years. I will miss he group texts during hunting and fishing seasons. Rest in peace my friend. I was blessed to get to know you for a few years.

I’ve known Corey for some time through business. All I can say is was shocked to hear the news. He had shared a picture several weeks ago while he was in Orlando for a soccer event with his Son. We had some great times together with work stuff and he will be sadly missed.
