Donald "Don" Dvorak

Obituary

Don was born on October 19, 1947, in Billings to James and Lydia Dvorak. He was raised on the family farm on Fly Creek, South of Pompey’s Pillar. He graduated in 1965 from Huntley Project High School and then served 4 years in the United States Air Force. He worked a number of jobs on the Project starting with Custer Coulee Cattle Company, several years with Worden Ballantine Water & Sewer District and then retired in 2010 while working at the Huntley Project Irrigation District.

Don enjoyed his 34 years serving on the Worden Volunteer Fire Department, including a role as Fire Chief for some of that time. He looked forward each Fall to driving beet truck, in fact, he had his own personal beet dump on road 22 South.

He had a love for Gnomes and Christmas decorations. Anyone driving by his house at any time of year could enjoy seeing his collections. Don also loved fishing, gardening and yard work.

His priority was spending time with family and many special friends. He is survived by his wife Rita of 36 years, his 4 daughters Theresa (Todd) Booke, Marlena Dvorak (Lisa), Bethany Moore (Josh), and Randi (Dave) Sanderlin, and 1 son Eddy (Kim) Dvorak and 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Betty (Clair) Tempero, and 3 brothers Norman (Margaret) Dvorak, Ken (Val) Dvorak, and Tom (Bonnie) Dvorak.

A special thank you to Amanda, Britni, and Joy for the hours of great, in-home care they provided Don. It takes a village in special circumstances and Rita would like to extend gratitude to everyone who was part of that community being available to help whenever she called.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday June 13th at the Huntley Volunteer Fire Station.

The service will be followed by food and fellowship at the Worden VFW Hall. A private burial will take place at Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine at a later date with immediate family.

Don worked with me from 1975 to 1990 at Custer Coulee. While he never had a title, it went without saying that he was our foreman. Afoot, horseback, or on machinery, Don was a top hand. est well, my good friend, you deserve it. - Dan and Peg Barkemeyer

You were a good friend Don. Going to miss you. Don hauled a lot of beets for me. Never had to ask. He was just there.
