Obituary

Our beloved Matriarch and heart of our family, Janice Kay Cherpeski, went to be with the Lord, June 16, 2026, at the age of 78. She passed peacefully at her home in Billings, MT, with her loving family by her side along with her beloved cat. Although Alzheimer’s took her from us far too soon, it could never dim the vibrant, independent spirit she shared with the world.

Born in Great Falls, MT on March 30, 1948, to William and Rosemary Doucett, Janice was a force of nature from the very beginning. She was a strong, self-made woman who proudly worked hard and quickly became the head saleswoman in EOLA Supplements, marking the beginning of her success. With sales being her true passion, Janice later moved on to being a sales representative for Solariums Direct. She was just as capable with a rifle or fishing rod in her hand as she was in her career or anything she set her mind to, always chasing the fresh air and beauty of the great outdoors.

However, Janice’s true masterpiece was the family she left behind, whom she loved to sing and dance with to the country classics every chance she had. She had an affinity for laughter and made it her personal mission to ensure everyone around her was having a good time and was taken care of. She was always available to bring us all together and host a holiday, especially her most cherished one of all, Christmas. She never forgot anybody nor neglected anyone she knew or held close and never hesitated to offer a helping hand to those in need.

We remember her as a devoted partner to her fiancé, Jerry Green, whose love for her knew no bonds. Over 19 years together, they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, love, and memories that will be cherished forever. Janice’s pride and joy were her two kids, Shawntell and Duke and above all her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren that were her entire life. She also cherished her late partner Dick and her 4 sisters. Her legacy lives on through the endless love she gave them all.

She leaves behind her fiancé Jerry, her daughter Shawntell (Larry) Brey, her son Duke (Charlena) Cherpeski, grandchildren Chassy (Jorden) Butler, Jerrod Brey, Jordan Brey, Heaven Cherpeski, Lil Duke Cherpeski, and 5 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews and close loving friends.

The Family says a special “Thank you” to Heaven Sent and Stillwater Hospice for their assistance in guiding her peacefully home. We would also like to thank her dear friends Sandy, Marilyn, Kari and Arlene for their friendship, support, and companionship. Their visits, kindness, and ability to keep her laughing brought her great comfort and joy.

To honor Janice’s memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, a cause close to our hearts that works to give families hope and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 25th, 2026, at 12:00 Please contact 406-698-4228 for directions and location..
