Obituary
Wade Ray Drewry was born on June 13, 1961, in Kalispell, Montana. He was the chubbiest child of four born to Gale Ray Drewry and Sharlene Bea Vance. Wade attended school in Circle and his senior year in Rapelje, MT.
Growing up years were spent on the tractor, horseback, and rodeoing, catching frogs to fry the legs, making rafts, killing rattlesnakes, and his best life of general ranch work.
Summer weekends meant participating in rodeos or in the boat and swimming at Fort Peck Lake just a few miles away, in eastern Montana language. Wade’s love for rodeo began at an early age.
On January 26, 1981, Wade entered the U.S. Army and served as a Scout. He met Judy Bobo at Fort Benning, GA and they were married in June 1984. They were stationed overseas in Schweinfurt Germany. During this time Wade rodeoed in the European Rodeo Cowboys Association and made lifelong friends, including Bob Fitch. Wade was reassigned to Fort Drum, New York. He left the service in October 1990.
They moved to Ohatchee, Alabama, a few other towns, most notably Geyser, Lewistown, Moccasin and Sidney, Montana. To this union a son, Tyler James, was born and a daughter, Brenna Lee. They divorced in 1994.
In the spring of 1996, Wade spent “a year that week” with his sister Cindie and Bob Fitch before moving to Alaska. Wade was a car salesman in Alaska and was able to spend some time with his brother Jay and family. Family get togethers were many everywhere he went.
Wade returned to Montana and lived in Worden. He and Brenda Stanhope Blomberg were married in 2003. Tyler and Brenna spent summers with them in Montana, which were described as some of their happier times. Their blended family included Brenda’s sons JD and Cody Reynolds. They divorced in 2006.
Wade pursued employment with the USPS and eventually became a postmaster in Lodge Grass, Montana. The stress and indoor employment were too confining, so he returned to ranching. Wade was a bit of a nomad, and he was most happy on the back of a good saddle horse or an even better bronc. He loved ranch life.
Wade moved back to Worden and married Nora Lambert on December 5, 2008. They lived there, in Huntley, in Wolf Point, and settled in Billings, MT. During this time, Wade trailered horses to various in and out of state destinations for local ropers.
Wade and Nora loved to travel. They saw the Black Hills, Crazy Horse Monument and museum. Wade especially enjoyed attending Pow Wows with Nora and her mom.
Martha loved Wade and made him fry bread when he visited. The feeling was mutual
and the conversations often were a session of laughter. Wade and Nora’s favorite destination was Yellowstone National Park, where he had visited as a child.
He began to have serious health complications which included a quadruple bypass and another heart operation to receive a stent. During this time, he tried to maintain employment including management at Tractor Supply Company. His health became in serious jeopardy when he was diagnosed with dementia in 2017.
In August 2021, Wade, Nora and her sons went to New York to see the Yankees and Red Sox play at Yankee Stadium. Wade was a Boston fan, and Nora is a Yankee fan. It was Wade’s first MLB game, and he was happy to receive a “first game certificate” while attending.
His health declined rapidly. Wade was lovingly cared for by Nora at home until he was moved into the memory care center of the V.A. Nursing Home in Glendive in 2024. He was transferred to River Ridge Nursing home in mid-May 2026. Wade passed away peacefully from complications of dementia on June 20, 2026, one week after his 65th birthday.
Wade was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and his father, Gale. Wade is survived by his wife, Nora, his children, Tyler Drewry (Nettie) and Brenna (Matt Phillips), his mother Sharlene (Richard Lucas), sister Cindie (Bob Fitch), brother Jay Drewry (Julia) and sister Jennifer (Paul Granot), Granddaughters Katerina Blumenthal-Drewry, Ally and Madi Grace Phillips, nephews Coy Loberg, Chris Loberg, Yancey Fitch (Uluwehi), niece Jessica Drewry (Michael Rush), twin nephews Logan Drewry and Travis Drewry, and P.J.
