Lynn Schott

Lynn Rochelle Schott (Dyer) was born in Santa Ana, CA to Richard and Donna Dyer on February 4th, 1962. Lynn was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer November 2015 and received treatment in 2016. In 2020 Lynn developed a benign tumor on the nerve between her ear and brain (vestibular schwannoma). The tumor was removed however she lost hearing in the right ear. In 2022 an MRI was conducted to check on the schwannoma and a large brain tumor was discovered and treated with radiation. In March 2026 more tumors were discovered and treated. Later the cancer had entered the brain fluid making the condition untreatable.

 Lynn endured many trials in the last 11 years of her life and she did so with sadness and grief, yes, but also with grace as she patiently endured and praised the Lord for the work in her life through those trials all the while. She taught us how to suffer well and her testimony was one of great encouragement to all who knew her. Her life was a blessing. On September 4th, 2026, at the age of 64, Lynn went home to be with the Lord. We are thankful to know that she is resting in the arms of her savior where her pain and suffering are no more.

Lynn married Russell Schott on January 17th, 1985 in Garden Grove, CA. They were married for 41 years before Lynn’s passing. She is survived by her Husband, Russell, 3 children, Brian, Rebecca Mueller (and John), Kevin (and Allison), 4 Grandchildren, Emma Mueller, Wyatt Mueller, Rhett Mueller, and Sophie Mueller (due in November), Lynn’s mother Donna Dyer, MIL Betty Schott, brother Steve Dyer (and Terri), BIL David Herringshaw, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Lynn loved her family deeply and greatly enjoyed quality time with them. She was always willing and eager to lend a helping hand whenever she could.

Lynn was silly, playful, passionate, enthusiastic, and most importantly, faithful. She had a deep faith in Jesus that only grew as she saw the evidence of his work in her life throughout the years. She often shared encouraging scripture with her loved ones as they brought comfort to her. She would be honored if anyone reading this would consider the gospel of Jesus, that he died for our sins, was buried and raised on the third day, defeating sin and death, and is now seated at the right hand of God in heaven. That if you believe and trust in the saving power of his sacrifice, you too, will be saved. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son. That whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life” John 3:16. Throughout her final years, she was most encouraged and comforted by the Psalms.

 Throughout her life, Lynn had a great enjoyment of sports, travel, and baking. She played basketball and softball in high school, and was the world’s best cheerleader for any sports game she watched. In fact, her children could often hear her hootin’ and hollerin’ for her teams from the street outside. She even broke a toe once while cheering too vigorously. When her kids were playing sports, they became the recipients of that enthusiasm. What was embarrassing at one time has now become cherished memories of a loving mother. Her children also remember many a midnight donut shop runs together throughout their teen years. She also enjoyed many trips throughout her married life with Russ, together they especially liked to visit national parks and historical sites together. However, they also took a trip to Europe in their early years, Hawaii for their honeymoon, and embarked on many ambitions road trips with their family visiting many national parks, taking ski trips, camping trips, and even a couple more visits to Hawaii. Hawaii was a favorite destination, somewhere she was able to travel as a young girl alongside her sister Sue for a mission’s trip and also later alongside her parents. Lynn was also a passionate baker, the neighbors were always recipients of huge Christmas cookie tins, every holiday had a table full of treats and in recent years she especially enjoyed baking for her church and grandchildren.

Lynn was passionate about anything she got involved in and never did a single thing half way. She held many roles in her lifetime, daughter, sister, friend, teammate, wife, mother, auntie, girl scout troop leader, Bible story teacher, swim team president, educator, city council woman, entrepreneur, cheerleader, grandma…and she did each with enthusiasm and commitment. Being a grandma might have been her favorite.

Lynn was proceeded in death by her dad, Richard Dyer, FIL Charles Schott, and her sister, Sue Herringshaw, who just passed this June.

A memorial is tentatively planned for October 17 at 2 PM at Valley Bible Church in Billings MT. A live stream will be attempted for those who can’t attend.
