Dear Russ,
Lynn is more alive today than she’s ever been but her passing from this life and how much she’ll be missed has grieved me tremendously and I mourn the loss of her presence on this side of eternity with you deeply.
I knew Lynn the idealist, Lynn the policy wonk, Lynn the servant leader, Lynn the confidant, Lynn the faithful friend, Lynn the “Salmon”. We met providentially during a campaign and bonded over shared ideals in homeschooling, faith, family and government. We often joked that like Salmon, we swam against the current of culture and society. She was a great swimming buddy.
I will always remember Lynn for being a learner. She was curious, adventurous and full of life. She was bilingual and spoke her second language of sarcasm like a native tongue and her mind was sharp and could connect the dots of ideas and ideals and weave them together to cast a vision or make something beautiful. Lynn was fierce in her love and equally as fierce in her disdain for that which was corrupt. She was uncompromising and unwavering in doing what was good, right and true. While she served in government, she was never a politician. She was a patriot. Holding office for her was not about selfish ambition but of a deep love for her family and country. She fundamentally understood that when the righteous prosper, the city rejoices (Proverbs 11:10) and she wanted that inheritance for her children and her children’s children to a thousand generations.
In the last few years of her life, she really worked out her salvation with fear and trembling. She wanted nothing more than to abandon any part of herself that wasn’t pleasing to the Lord. She wanted to love deeply. The more she understood God’s own grace and love for her, the more she was able to extend that grace and love to others.
Russ: She loved you deeply. Brian, Becca and Kevin: you were her pride and joy. Emma, Wyatt and Rhet: She was so happy to be with you in Montana and I have loved watching you grow in pictures she would send me. Baby Mueller, your grandma was so expectant at your impending arrival. John and Allison: she treasured you both and her heart was full knowing you were her kid’s partners in life. Her family was always on her mind, in her heart, on her lips and always in her prayers.
Thank you for sharing Lynn with me. She was a blessing and a benediction in my life. I will remember her fondly and with great love and esteem. May the Lord draw ever so close to you and may you experience His peace in a profound way during this tender time and may her memory be a blessing.
With deepest sympathy,
Dalia Powers

After Becca and our son Johnny were married we flew to CA for an after wedding gathering at Russ and Lynn’s home. They welcomed us with open arms and showed us a wonderful time. They took us to an amazing Christmas concert. We feel very blessed to have become family with them. Lynn was very dear to me. Her strength throughout her battle was such a testament for her love and faith for the Lord. I feel very grateful that we got to share life with our grandchildren together. She truly was such a blessing. We will miss you dear Lynn. Cheri and Dave
