Obituary
Elizabeth (Betty) Louisa Haun , our loving mother, grandmother, and friend died peacefully at her home with family in Billings, Montana on May 22, 2014. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was born in Baker, Montana on September 4, 1922, to parents Emil and Antionette Weyerbacher, who migrated to their Montana homestead from Booneville, Indiana. Betty was the middle of three children. Her siblings were older brother Emil Weyerbacher and younger brother Ralph Weyerbacher. Betty attended Baker public schools and graduated from Baker High School as valedictorian and a star basketball player. The family moved from Baker to a new homestead in the Kinsey Irrigation Project located north of Miles City. Betty attended junior college in Miles City. She met Richard C. Haun in 1941 in Kinsey and they subsequently were married in 1942 in Miles City. They were happily married for 54 years until the passing of our dad. She moved to Billings in 1955 where, as a stay-at-home loving mother, she raised her five children. For 25 years thereafter, she enthusiastically worked at Miles Avenue Elementary School and was Kitchen Manager upon retirement. She was a tireless volunteer at both Billings hospitals. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as a prayer- chain warrior. She vigorously played Phase 10 with her neighborhood friends. She is survived by her children Rick (Sandy) Haun, Chet (Janie) Haun, Sheri (Gary) Paseka and Terri Haun; 11 grandchildren Cary, Jason, Matt, Brandi, Beth, Angie, Billy, Katie, Jake, Jared, and Brice; 7 great grandchildren Jazmin, Seneca, Mia, Ella, Lilly, Logan and Lucy; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she always considered “her children”. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, son Cliff, and son-in-law Rick. Funeral Services for Betty will be 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 2800 4th Ave. N. Billings, MT 59101. I am truly sorry for the loss of your dear mother, “Betty." Death is difficult to deal with, especially when it’s mom. I’d like to share with you a promise from God that has helped me cope, found at Isaiah 25:8; “ He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” We are reassured that soon we will never have to lose our loved ones again in death at Revelation 21:4 where the apostle John wrote: “ And he will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” May you find comfort in these promises from Almighty God.
