Charles “Chuck” W. Ackerman, 62, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Billings, MT from a long battle with cancer. By his side were family and close friends. Chuck was born March 15, 1952 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Earl and Rosella Ackerman and brother to Nancy Volesky, Denys Ackerman, Sandy Sadowsky, Dan Ackerman, and Tom Ackerman. He lived the majority of his life in Billings. Chuck was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his parents, his siblings and his nieces and nephews. Chuck had an amazing talent for building and repairing, violins in particular. He had a passion for food, preparing, cooking, and catering. He loved the outdoors and summer days on the boat and summer nights camping. He was an incredible son, brother, uncle and friend. He impacted so many people's lives with his words of wisdom, sense of humor and big heart. A Vigil Service will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26 with Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, both at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Jay and Dorothy Randall

We knew him as Charlie. We met Charlie at the Blgs. Clinic cancer treatment center. For a year and a half he and Jay had the same schedule for their Vidaza infusions. Charlie became our friend. He always had a smile to share, and he often brought treats for the nurses. He gave us 2 wonderful books to read. Before Christmas Jay's schedule was changed, and we missed seeing Charlie. We exchanged Christmas cards with him. We were saddened to learn of his death. We feel blessed to have known him. Dorothy and Jay Randall
