Bette Lindsey

Bette Rae Wolfe Lindsey 87, was born June 2, 1931. She passed away peacefully in her family home on Good Friday, April 19, 2019 with her dear dog Jake and family by her side. Bette Rae caught flight on the wings of an eagle to heaven into the arms of her grandson Zach Lindsey and was reunited with her beloved parents, loved ones and many friends. Bette Rae was the second daughter born to C.D. Bill Wolfe and Dorothea Evers Wolfe. She was born at the Billings Deaconess Hospital and grew up and lived most of her life in the family home at 205 Ave. D Billings, MT. Bette Rae graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1949 with lifelong friends to this day and graduated with a B.A. degree in education from the University of Montana in 1953. She was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta!!! Talented Bette Rae especially liked modeling, swimming, and horseback riding. Bette would often recall fond memories going to the Evers Ranch of over 100 years in the family to see her grandparents and her horses. She loved the fresh country cooking and baking with her grandma Emma Evers. She also loved taking her kids to the Clyde Park Cabin for family get togethers. Mrs. Lindsey taught as a faculty member at Will James Jr. High School, Lewis and Clark Jr. High School and Billings Senior High School for 26 years. She taught Speech, Drama and Reading. She directed many Christmas programs, talent assemblies and plays. She was a School District #2 substitute teacher for 5 years. She made longtime friends of fellow faculty and staff. She loved and believed in each student as they would always thank her for making a difference in their life to this day. In her pastime she would needlepoint pictures/pillows and knit hats and scarves for her family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting original miniature paintings, art work, and doing modgepodging. Throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's she loved caring for her grandmother Evers and parents C. D. Bill and Dorothea Wolfe in the family home (4 generations lived under 1 roof) while following her sons around the state watching them win the Baseball State Championships with the American Legion and Casey's Baseball National Championship at Arizona State University, and Toby's State Championship in Football at Billings Senior High. Mother also loved music. She loved to play the piano and sing with family gathered around her. She and her sister Colleen would often sing old songs over the phone. …Bette Rae knew every word to every song. Wherever Betty Rae was there was Love… She carried on the tradition at 205 where all were welcome and had lots of good times and food for all. She was the official lifeguard at the 205 pool for 47 years and you were welcome to swim with a permission slip from parents. And NO JUMPING OFF THE POOLHOUSE ROOF!!!. She always had a reason to celebrate family, friends, weddings, and babies with a nice party. Bette Rae was married to Kenneth Lindsey for 7 years and 3 babies later. She dedicated her life to her kids and taught them loyalty…honor … love. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Zach Lindsey. She is survived by her children- Daughter Susan Rae Lindsey Carlson (Gary), grandson Gary Carlson JR. and granddaughter Emily Carlson Brown (Corey) and her ONLY great grandson Alexander Brown; Son Casey Lindsey (Shirley Nelson); Son Toby Lindsey, and granddaughter Alivia Lindsey; Sister Colleen Wolfe Smart, and nieces Debbie Olmsted and Kim Smart, nephews Fred Smart and Bill Smart and their families; her dear friends, especially, Janet Mickens and Mary Mattheis. And also Bette's devoted pets, Rosie, Dot, Jake. Special Thanks to Tana, (Right At Home) for her special care. You made mom very happy. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Zachary Lindsey Memorial Fund, Billings YMCA, 402 N. 32nd St. Billings, MT 59101 in honor of our Mom, Bette Rae Lindsey. We will miss you dearly MOM And GMa! God Only Takes The Good Ones On Good Friday! Please join us in celebrating Bette Rae's life on May 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the Dahl Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone, Ave, Billings, MT. Interment will be in Mountview Cemetery with a reception to follow at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
