Obituary

John Paul Martinez, 69, passed away October 26, 2015 with family by his side. John was born January 25,1946 to Andrew Paul Martinez and Bertha Degele Martinez in Billings, MT. Growing up he attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, West High School then worked at Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1965 he joined the U. S. Air Force with his brother Frank. He married Susan Todd later ending in divorce. John was a great guitar player as his father and brothers who formed a band "Martinez Brothers". No one meant more to him than his family. He had a special place in his heart for his daughter, Melissa and shared it with no one. He is survived by his daughter Melissa; sons Todd, John and Joe; brother Frank; sisters Gloria and Helen; many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert, Andy and Steve and Andrew Jr.; sisters MaryAnn, Delores and Pauline. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2015 at Mary Queen of Peace Parrish (Little Flower Church) located at 3411 Third Ave. S. at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of the staff at Dahl Funeral Chapel and memories may be shared at www.dahlfuneralchapel.com.

John was my dad. He served in the air force during Vietnam. He and my mom were stationed at Travis Air Force base in California. I was a true "love child ". It was 1969, No other details necessary. They weren't married, but according to both, had a very memorable night . The product of their union was me. I found them both later in my life because, without his knowledge, I was put up for adoption . It was a very positive reunion. But the relationship that grew from my dad finding out was more then anything I could ever have imagined/hoped for. Discovering him to be my dad changed so much in my life. He was my best friend. We loved each other no matter what we had done/accomplished in our lives. He will be forever missed. I love you dad. So very very much.
