Wilma McIntosh

Wilma went to be with her Heavenly Father on Dec. 7, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Beaver City, Oklahoma on April 25, 1911 to John Andrew and Hannah Russell, the 8th child in a family of 9. At an early age her family moved from Oklahoma to Kansas in a Prairie Schooner. Out on the prairies of Kansas the family was confronted by the Dalton Brothers Gang, an experience that Wilma remembered well. Wilma's mother was instrumental in starting the Wesleyan Church in Oklahoma. Her older brother, Elmer Russell, had the opportunity during the Depression Years to preach a message in that church. Wilma believed that services are still being held there today. Wilma attended college during the depression. In 1933 she married Oliver Rowland in Arkansas. They had one son, James Howard Rowland, in Casper Wyoming on January 1, 1936. James died in 1960 In 1986 Wilma married George Mclntosh. She was blessed to have three-stepsons, James, Edward and John Mclntosh. Wilma enjoyed crocheting and made many beautiful dolls for relatives and friends. She was a great gardener and took pride in the 7 pound tomato she grew one summer. Wilma had pictures to prove this. She was an avid reader and loved to tell stories about her early life. She loved music, especially quartet music. Her dogs were among her greatest enjoyments. After the death of her older dog, Shasta, she bought a Pomeranian puppy. Cammi proved to be a good companion, but also a real challenge. However, Wilma had a great sense of humor, and she found things to laugh about even in the trials of raising a puppy. Wilma was a long- time member of the Eastern Star. She also was an active member of the Tree of Life Wesleyan Church. She started a once a month luncheon date with a group of Christian women at the Golden Corral where much laughter and many problems were discussed. Wilma was preceded in death by her 1st husband Oliver Rowland, their son James Howard Rowland and her 2nd husband George Mclntosh. Wilma is survived by her six grandchildren: Daniel Rowland, Bobby Kay Klinger, Barry Klinger, Peggy Jo Rowland, Bernadette Rowland Emmanuel, James Rowland and Nancy Rowland Mata; Stepsons: James (Rose) Mclntosh, Edward (Tuddie) Mclntosh, and John McIntosh; and eight step-grandchildren. Wilma truly loved her stepson, (Jimmy) James and his wife Rose McIntosh. She considered them both a gift from God to help her and they never let her down. She will be greatly missed but always remembered by all who knew and loved her. This remarkable lady lived alone in her own home until one week before her passing. Wilma told a friend on November 26th that she didn't understand why God was taking so long to finish her mansion. Well, it is finished now! We will always remember that when you left Wilma's with those hugs and kisses and said, 'I love you Wilma!' She would always reply 'I love you back!' Service: Wilma has been cremated and her memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Her ashes will be laid to rest in a private family service at a later date.
