Lawrence Brunn

Lawrence James Brunn, Jr. (Larry) was born on March 22, 1952, in an ambulance during a snowstorm on the way to the hospital in St. Cloud, MN. He passed away at his home on July 13th, 2017. He was the son of Lawrence James Brunn, Sr., and Ferne R. Brunn. Larry was welcomed into the family by his big sister, Shirley, who was three years old and loved having a little brother. During their growing up years, they were the best of buddies, and Larry never minded his sister tagging along with all of his friends. They shared many special times and memories. Larry attended a little country school in Ronneby, MN, through the first few years of school. The family then moved to Montana where he attended another little school in Paragon, MT, with only about 7 students. Growing up on the farm with the horses and animals was the beginning of his love for all wildlife, including a pet raccoon. Larry graduated from Custer County High School in Miles City, MT in 1970. He was very active and excelled in wrestling and football and carried those memories with him throughout his life. Even in recent years, you would find him proudly wearing his letterman's jacket. After high school, he attended Eastern Montana College and obtained his degrees in Biology and Chemistry. Larry spent many days with his nephew and niece, Scott and Kristin, swimming in the Yellowstone River and the Big Ditch. His way of teaching them was to throw them in the water and tell them to swim! Of course, this never was disclosed until later years, but they were both great swimmers. Life was a struggle for Larry as he battled with finding his niche in life. He loved antiques and collecting and spent his young adult years at the Log Cabin Pawn working with his Dad, and then owning Montana Mercantile. Later, he spent many years selling items from his home and on eBay. Larry's later years were difficult for him. After losing his parents, he lost several of his very good friends and more recently his niece, Kristin. He was very kind hearted and loyal to anyone he called his friend. You would never find Larry's house without a dog and/or a cat. They were his companions and helped him deal with everyday life. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and his niece, Kristin Mackney. He is survived by his sister Shirley Mackney (Ronald), a nephew, Scott Mackney (Judi), and his great nephews Caden, Conor and McCrae. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 31st, at 11 a.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel with a luncheon following service. We will always love and miss you Larry, but know that you are in a better place and at peace with Dad, Mom, and Kristin.
