Obituary

Dale Davis left this Earth to be with his Lord and Savior on October 21, 2025. Born in 1943 to Les and Rosine Davis, Dale’s journey began in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He moved to Saco, MT, where he lived from ages 4 to 14. The family then moved to Fairfield, and Dale graduated from high school there in May of 1961.

Dale’s early career included work on the Minute Man Missiles, followed by college studies at Eastern in Billings. He contributed to the Montana Highway Department before marrying Linda Buchanan in 1966.

Shortly after, Dale was drafted and served honorably at Ft. Lewis, WA from 1966 to 1968. In 1972, Dale married Mardi Peterson, and soon after began operating heavy machinery. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start Ds Insulation in 1977, which he later sold. Dale’s talents extended to building commercial offices and apartments, and he took great pride in constructing a beautiful cabin at Boyd, where he loved hosting gatherings.

Dale’s greatest business achievement was his apartment complexes in Billings Heights, a testament to his vision and dedication. He was an avid fisherman, traveling to Alaska and Canada six times, as well as the Amazon River and Costa Rica. His passion for scuba diving took him around the world, including Australia, the Caribbean, Fiji, Mexico, and Lake DeSmet.

A lover of classic cars, Dale enjoyed restoring and driving a variety of vehicles, including a ’39 Ford, ’51 Chevy, ’54 Ford, ’65 Chevy, ’65 Mustang, ’66 Chevy convertible, ’69 Tornado, ’67 Ford Pickup.

Dale cherished the friendships, colleagues, and family members who enriched his life. He was deeply grateful to each person who made his journey wonderful. Dale found profound comfort and joy in scripture, especially in the truth that “God is Good.” He attested to God’s goodness throughout his life, making faith a central part of his journey. Dale’s commitment to sharing his faith led him to guide many people to Christ, and he was involved in prison ministry, reaching out to those in need of hope and spiritual support. His unwavering belief and dedication to serving others through his faith will be remembered as one of his greatest legacies.

Dale Davis will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, generosity, and unwavering faith. He also enjoyed meeting musicians and sharing in their artistry. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Dale was an unusual and amazing man. I always liked him, but my respect for him grew every year. I feel he was a leader anointed to help many other men. His attitude, determination, persistence, attention to details, willingness to risk, and example made him a man I (and many others) wanted to follow. I had the good fortune to be "one of the ones" he helped and he made my life better. In all this, God was his priority and I thank God he put Dale in my life.

Davis Family - we mourn with you and pray for God's comfort to cover each of you in the ways you need. Dale was an incredible human who touched the lives of so many people and in so many different ways. He was a man of sharp intellect, keen wit, infectious humor, steadfast stubbornness and unrivaled intensity. These, as with all of the strengths each of us carry, brought much joy to the world...and sometimes hurt as well. I'm confident that the joy is what continues to live on in the lives of each of the people who crossed paths with Dale. The world is a better place because he walked around on it....his amazing family is a testament to that fact!

Dale was an awesome person always worried about his friends and family. Met Dale in high school then we both worked for my father on the farm. Dale was always the push to get as many people as possible to the reunions. He loved to go to the Reno air races and Oshkosh flyin. We went to several together and had a great time. Often one might be reluctant to sit next to him as he was always pulling pranks on people he didn’t even know. In one case we barely escaped without bodily injury. May the Lord be with you my friend! And family.

Rest in peace, my old friend. You deserve it. My memories are rich with love, warmth, friendship and support from our countless journeys around the Globe. I betcha Mark will remind that he died first, and that second place is first place for losers. Remember the T-Shirts we all had? You were a blessing to all who knew you. Be missed by many.
