Sad times that the last of those Krueger kids have passed away. Even though I didn't personally get to know my Aunt I have gotten to know her daughter Doris. The two of us like to share stories of my father Walter, Celia's brother, and Celia from Doris. Celia, you produce a very talented daughter I am very grateful for getting to know you through her. Rest in Peace, Debbie Krueger.

After Mama had lived in Cottonwood for several years, Bonnie mentioned she would be unavailable to visit Mama on her birthday. She asked if any of us would be able to do that. I made my move! From that point on I endeavored to be in Cottonwood three times a year every year for popular non-Holidays -- St. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and her birthday in November. I loved every part of those adventures, particularly seeing Mama waiting at the door for my arrival -- even at 2am. (It always reminded me of late nights in our high school years, when Mama would be "up drinking tea" regardless of the hour we got home). In addition to the long and short lists of chores Mama wanted to complete during every visit, I enjoyed trying to cook meals she would like (not just cookies, cakes and pies), and chart out an adventure where two old ladies could get in and out before needing a nap. Despite Mama insisting she had been everywhere and seen everything, we still managed to find a few local restaurants, an exotic greenhouse that grew both native and rare plants, and even the new handicapped-access ramp to Tuzigoot National Monument. These trips were always full of relaxing periods in the community garden, visits with other residents, and the challenge to get Mama to watch a movie. One time she actually requested the movie "Three Billboards" which was very dramatic and full of treachery. We liked it so much we hoped there would be a sequel! Another time we watched "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" as we tried to remember the sequence of events in the Millenium series by Stieg Larsson.

I remember spending a lot of time at your house playing with Gail and Karen as we lived down the street. Your mom was always busy with something, usually yard work but sometimes baking cookies which was awesome if my timing was right. I could tell even at a young age she was a witty, smart woman who suffered no fools which certainly kept me on my toes. I really enjoyed catching up with her at the family reunion in Red Lodge. I'm sorry for your loss. Sending hugs to all of you! Janet Hedges
