Obituary

Kenneth Lee Davis, born September 16, 1961 in Billings, MT passed away peacefully in his sleep March 25th, 2023 from an apparent heart attack. He was raised in the Billings and Shepherd areas, graduating from Shepherd High School in 1979. He was a lifelong mechanic, eventually retiring from Hanser's Automotive.


He had an infinite love for the outdoors, spending every minute he could hunting and fishing. His most favorite times were in his drift boat fishing on the Bighorn and Yellowstone Rivers or hunting all over Montana. He most recently became an avid rock hound and was very proud of his collection. Ken felt the most freedom when he was on his Harley riding wherever the road took him. He could fix anything, and was the ultimate handyman and craftsman. A true perfectionist. Ken was a selfless, kind, compassionate man who would do anything for anyone and never gave up when presented with any kind of challenge. He was very proud of his children and enjoyed many outdoor adventures with his son Dustin and had a special bond with his sweet daughter Kaylee. He was overjoyed to recently find his long lost extended family members (the Werner family) and made the trip to Kansas City to meet them all. Eight ½ years ago, he was lucky enough to find his true love, Sue. They have been inseparable since the day they met and spent their days together remodeling their home, camping, fishing, and traveling.


Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Earl Wayne Davis, his brother Mark, and his beloved horse Kharacter. He is survived by his best friend and true love Sue Cline Robison, two children Dustin and Kaylee Davis, his brother Corey Davis, a niece Amber and nephew Scott, Sue's children Jenny (Tom) Fox, Matt (Mary) Robison, and grandchildren, Breann (Clay), Jake, Ryan, Addy, Pete, and Maggie. In accordance with his wishes, a small family celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

Ken was one of my best friends I enjoyed that time we spent together. I also enjoyed teaching Hunter Education with him.

Ken was a huge influence in my life … I always thought of him as my other father … we shared a lot in common, I feel so bad that I never went fishing with him one last time, as any role model in life he was always telling me to slow down and enjoy life, unfortunately I didn’t make it down to go fishing with him but I always enjoyed working along side Ken as a mechanic and fishing with him he was so talented in everything he did I feel honored to know him and call him my friend

I worked with Kenny back in our days at Warren Transport. He would regale me with stories from his time at Peterbilt and taught me a ton. I was lucky enough to somewhat apprentice under him on engine work and then began doing engine jobs on my own. He was an avid outdoorsman, as evidenced by his BUXNBUL license plate at the time. He bought his Harley towards the end of his tenure there and I really saw joy in Ken’s life then. He always spoke highly of Dustin and Kaylee at work and was a proud dad. Life took us in different directions and different job titles, but they always revolved around spinning wrenches. I’d occasionally text him and let him know I was thinking of him, and he perpetually reminded me we needed to get together, have a refreshment, and shoot the breeze. Sadly, we never got to. I was lucky enough to see him right before Christmas at a band concert at Shepherd and he looked so happy and content in that moment. We chatted for about ten minutes or so and lamented that we had some catching up to do. Sadly, we’ll never have that cold snack, but know I think about you often and have some great memories.
